Chile has the Fastest Broadband OECD.

According to a recent survey by the UK-based pricing comparison website Uswitch, among the 37 OECD members, Chile has the fastest average broadband internet connection. Chile is followed by Denmark and the United States in terms of speed.

The average internet connection in Chile had a speed of 189.36Mbps, which is almost 100Mbps faster than the OECD average and seven times faster than Turkey, which had the slowest connection at 26.34Mbps. Chilean broadband connections can download a 1,500MB movie in just over a minute. Greece and Mexico had the second- and third-slowest average broadband connections, with speeds of 33.41Mbps and 38.77Mbps, respectively. At the top end, the United States came in third with 143.76Mbps, followed by Denmark with 163.60Mbps.

By comparing average expenses to average monthly per capita income, Uswitch's statistics also determined the affordability of broadband internet bundles across OECD nations. According to this criterion, Israel was the most cost-effective country among the 38 examined, with internet expenditures amounting to just 0.78% of monthly income on average. Lithuania and France came in second and third, with 0.97% and 1.14% of monthly income, respectively. By this standard, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Colombia were the most expensive, coming in at 4.49%, 4.72%, and 5.63% respectively.

The average cost and speed of broadband in a given nation are influenced by a vast array of diverse variables, and because different underlying technologies exist in different nations, some have lagged behind others in the development of high-speed connectivity. Government regulations and policies have an impact on how rapidly carriers can deploy cutting-edge networks, and even a country's size and population density can have an impact on how quickly and affordably its typical broadband connection operates.

According to Catherine Hiley, a broadband expert for the website, the UK, where Uswitch is based, lags behind other nations on at least one of these measures. She commented, "It's interesting to discover that the UK only ranks 26th for median download speed. "These numbers show that there is still much work to be done in the UK in order to provide fast and dependable speeds."
